How can I restore iPad calendar data from iCloud?

Hi – I have noticed that all my calendar entries from January 2012 to the end of June have disappeared – I was advised by Apple to restore my data from the iCloud, where it is backed up – but this doesn’t seem to have resolved the problem – please can anyone help?
